Sneaker history

Help: People love to read about the history of a sneaker. What inspired the design? Was it part of a set? What year did it come out, and in how many colours and style variants? Comment is cool, but facts rule!

John Travolta was the hero of the night. In the late Seventies, the disco was an irreplaceable gathering place for young folks, and Nike designers must have seen it as some kind of Saturday night track & field venue. The Nighttrack was based on the Nike LDV, but its daring and bold colorway no longer had any resemblance of a running shoe. The outsole was transparent and completely flat, and there were a few sparkling lamé particles mixed into it. Nike already knew how important a marketing strategy it was to blend into the young generation’s lifestyle. In the early 2000s there were very few models around, and their price could easily reach 1200-1500 dollars. Today, the value of the Nike Studio 54 has slightly decreased. So far, Nike has never remade the Studio 54.
